Kalamkari is an art that Iranians have cultivated with exemplary skill from the time of the Sasanian Empire until today and have passed it on to the present generation. This art is an ancient way of printing amazing designs on fabric. In different historical periods, the use of Kalamkari was very popular among Iranian people. Fabrics with patterns and colours that Iranian masters painted with pear and hawthorn wood and with the help of natural colours. Today’s pen tablecloths usually have traditional patterns and are made of cotton. The colour of these tablecloths is stabilised by dyeing with pomegranate skin.
